Former Lebanese Prime Minister Saad Hariri seems increasingly incapable of holding his late father’s financial and political empire together. But Saudi King Abdullah bin Abdel Aziz has reportedly injected US$2 billion to prop up Hariri, despite a fallout between the latter and the king’s brother, Crown Prince Nayef bin Abdel Aziz ………. Some weeks ago, informed sources in Saudi Arabia say, three major Saudi banks are thought to have made a decision to rate Hariri and his companies as financially vulnerable institutions…………. Sources familiar with the issue say Hariri’s handling of the company’s financial affairs during that time was confused, and this became clear to those closest to him. He would make off-the-cuff decisions, and then later change his mind. He resorted to a policy of buying time, while waiting for a solution to descend “from above” to refloat his companies and institutions. This is precisely what appears to have happened. Informed sources say that some days ago, and with no prior notice, King Abdullah bin Abdel Aziz decided to grant Hariri and Saudi Oger a “goodwill loan” of 7 billion Saudi riyals (US$1.9 billion)……………

A Valentine gift from the Saudi absolute king to one of his Lebanese stooges. Al-Quds Al-Arabi claims Mr. Hariri has refuted these reports that Saudi King Abdullah has given him US$ 2 billion. Which to me means that the al-Akhbar report is probably accurate and that the king did give him some large amount.
Which makes me wonder: don’t they have any auditing and control system in the Democratic People’s Kingdom of (Saudi) Arabia? The king can just give away $ 2 billion of public money at his whim while many of his people live below poverty and there is double digit unemployment and a housing shortage. Is this a country or a Mafia family?
WTF
is going on in our region that such ridiculous things can be done by such ridiculous absolute watermelon rulers without accountability?

Cheers
