Al-Akhbar daily reports that Lebanon’s former prime minister has changed his mind again and is now accusing Syria of assassinating his father Rafiq Hariri and others by a car bomb. Originally, after 2005, Saad Hariri and others of the March 14 accused Syria, and the international Special Tribunal for Lebanon (STL) was seen in the Arab world as formed by the West to “get” the Syrian regime. Then a couple of years ago, after relations between the West and the Assad regime improved, the STL decided that Syria was not responsible and that Hezbollah was responsible for the assassination. Now, with Syrian relations with the West (USA, France, UK) worsening, the STL may follow Hariri and blame Syria again. Hezbollah and Syria have retaliated by accusing Israel’s Mossad of the assassination. Interesting international justice, no? Long live international justice.

I have written here on the STL before. It has no credibility in the Arab world, except in the Hariri and Saudi camps and among some Wahhabi faux-liberals on the Gulf.  Someone killed Hariri and those other people, but the STL has acted so blatantly political and inept that it has lost any respect it may have had among most Arabs.
Cheers
