Shifting Origins of the Sun from Pyongyang to the U.S. Congress to the Middle East………….

“North Korea said Thursday it will enshrine Kim Jong Il's body in the palace housing his father, the national founder, deepening its veneration of the Kim dynasty as the country transfers power to a third generation of the family. The country also said it will erect a new Kim Jong Il statue and build "towers to his immortality," while the ruling party called him "eternal leader" and gave his birthday a new title that underlines his military-first policy and links him more closely to his father, Kim Il Sung, who is still revered as the eternal president…….. The new name for Kim Jong Il's birthday, "Day of the Shining Star," is another link to Kim Il Sung, whose birthday is called the "Day of the Sun."……….”

Expect any day now the North Korean ruling family to announce that the sun doesn’t shine from the “east”, not anymore. That in fact it shines from a recessed nook in the late Kim’s anatomy. They may start teaching it in their schools, as alternative science. In due time, the sun will shift toward Kin Jong-Un.
Kim won’t be the first leader to get the honor of “housing” the sunrise. A couple of decades ago a few Iraqis, as well as many more on the Gulf, my Gulf, also believed that the sun shone form a certain dark nook in the anatomy of the late Saddam Hussein. Many on my Gulf apparently now believe that the sun has shifted since then, that it now shines from a certain recessed nook in the anatomy of an elderly Saudi potentate (I shall name no names here).
But the Middle East is not the only region where the origin of sunrise has shifted. Months ago, as I watched Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu address a joint session of the U.S. Congress, I suddenly saw that most of them actually believed that the sun now shines from a certain recessed nook in the anatomy of Netanyahu. I recall writing something here about Rep. Ros-Lehtinen (R-Fla) and how she might be the originator of that idea, perhaps a draft bill, in Congress relating the origins of sunshine to a certain part of Netanyahu’s anatomy.
Anyway, back to Pyongyang……….
