Eisenhower and America’s "Avatar" Wars for the 1%: Preparing for the Mother of All Muslim Wars………
Rattlesnake Ridge

“America’s wars are remote. They’re remote from us geographically, remote from us emotionally (unless you’re serving in the military or have a close relative or friend who serves), and remote from our major media outlets, which have given us no compelling narrative about them, except that they’re being fought by “America’s heroes” against foreign terrorists and evil-doers. They’re even being fought, in significant part, by remote control—by robotic drones “piloted” by ground-based operators from a secret network of bases located hundreds, if not thousands, of miles from the danger of the battlefield……….. Contrast this with our current 1 percent wars. In them, 99 percent of Americans have no stake. The 1 percent who do are largely ID-card-carrying members of what President Dwight D. Eisenhower so memorably called the “military-industrial complex” in 1961. In the half-century since, that web of crony corporations, lobbyists, politicians and retired military types who have passed through Washington’s revolving door has grown ever more gargantuan and tangled, engorged by untold trillions devoted to a national security and intelligence complex that seemingly dominates Washington. They are the ones who, in turn, have dispatched another 1 percent—the lone percent of Americans in our All-Volunteer Military—to repetitive tours of duty fighting endless wars abroad……………”
I might add here that America’s wars are not only remote geographically (about half way around the globe); they are also remote in every other meaning of the term. They have focused on our region of the Middle East, and now more than ever on my Persian-American Gulf. No sooner had the idiotic neoconservatives believed, prematurely as it turned out, that Afghanistan was won than they deployed for Iraq. Afghanistan started as a justifiable war against al-Qaeda and the Taliban which had executed the terrorist attacks on American soil (some idiotic American district judge is now charging Iran in being involved, Iran and not Saudi Arabia or Egypt or UAE where the terrorists came from). Iraq was declared a “Mission Accomplished” by the same idiotic Neoconservatives, prematurely, almost criminally prematurely, as it turned out.
Now the idiotic Neoconservatives, and the Likud-nik lobby in the American Knesset, have their eyes set on yet another “easy” Muslim target. All these targets must look so soft and easy on paper to these schmucks in their Washington and Stanford and Rand and other think-tank offices. Now they have set their eyes on the Mother of all Muslim targets, theocratic Iran. A bit of missed irony here: they say that Iran (Persia) is a threat and a danger to the “Persian-American” Gulf, but all the foreign Western navies choking my Gulf are not. They want to start “something” against Iran, and they are making the same mistake they made in all the others: how would they know when that war is over, without the telltale “tail tucked between the legs”?
Cheers
