Alquds Alarabi reports from London that the al-Nahayn rulers of the UAE have withdrawn the UAE citizenship of six academics as a punishment for calling for reforms. The six were reportedly Islamists charged with endangering the national security of the “state”. "Endangering the security of the state" is universally used in the GCC states to stifle freedoms and sow fear among people It is also a charge that is often used by other Arab regimes against protesters and opponents in general. Alquds also reports that at least one of the academics now made stateless is a follower and fan of Qatar-based Egyptian television cleric and demagogue Yusuf al-Qaradawi. (My own descriptions of the charlatan-shaikh since Alquds Alarabi is very chummy with the Qatari regime, meaning it is financed by Qatar).
It is well-known that the rulers of the UAE, the al-Nahayan brothers, have responded to the Arab uprisings by forming a mercenary army commanded by former officials of Blackwater and manned by Colombians, Australians, white South Africans (and possibly veterans of Mexican drug cartels if they listen to my advice).
