“Saif’s treatment is a test for the new Libyan government to show that they are turning their backs on the abusive practices of the last four decades,” Abrahams said. “The revolution was about breaking the traditions of abusive justice, and they have an opportunity to demonstrate that they will do that.” According to U.N. Security Council Resolution 1970, Libya’s interim leaders are obliged to turn Gaddafi over to the International Criminal Court for trial on charges that include crimes against humanity. But Ibrahim Dabbashi, Libya’s deputy ambassador to the United Nations, said the vast majority of Libyans want the trial to take place in their country…………

Now Alarabiya reports, with photos to prove it, that the “new” Libyan regime has cut off some fingers of Said el-Islam Qaddafi. Without a trial. The Qaddafi’s were a nasty bunch, but the new regime is not honoring the agreement it made, and is breaking the UN resolution 1970 to turn the Qaddafis over to an international court. The new Libyan regime, clearly Islamist fundamentalist now, is chopping fingers of the same despots its own members served for many years. What next? Chopping heads in public as is the Wahhabi practice? Only two weeks ago Mr. Abduljalil unilaterally and without asking the people, said that Islamist Sharia will be the law. Now they are chopping fingers without a trial.
When Saddam Hussein was tried for three years then executed, the Salafi Wahhabis and some of their misguided pan-Arabist foes, pretended he was not given a fair trial. At least he was tried, with a phalanx of international lawyers defending him.

Cheers
