Go West: Liberating Libya, Managing Arab Uprisings........
Rattlesnake Ridge
“Special forces troops from Britain, France, Jordan and Qatar on the ground in Libya have stepped up operations in Tripoli and other cities in recent days to help rebel forces as they conducted their final advance on the Gadhafi regime, a NATO official confirmed to CNN Wednesday. British forces, in particular, have assisted rebel units by "helping them get better organized to conduct operations," the official said. Some of these forces from all the countries have traveled with rebel units from towns across Libya as they advanced on Tripoli. The official declined to be identified due to the sensitive nature of the intelligence information. Overall, the special forces have helped rebels "improve their tactics,"…………..”
Which means that special forces from Britain and France are in charge of military strategy and effective command for the Libyans. When was the last time Qatar or even Jordan were involved in insurgency or counter-insurgency activity? Okay, I take half of that back: Jordanians have been active in "counter-insurgency" activities in several Arab countries for decades, often in the interrogation rooms and sound-proof underground cells somewhere along the shores of my Gulf. Usually, we call that type of activities "counter-revolutionary" activity, and it is not always done through private mercenaries. In this unique Libyan case, the activity is not yet "counter-revolutionary", but in support of the rebels perhaps with the aim of forcing a "controlled" revolutionary environment. Sort of like they tried to do in Tunisia and are trying to do, with more success, in Egypt.
What was it Tony (the Poodle) Blair said about Egypt during early February? He said something about the West "managing" the revolution in Egypt. I was surprised and I mocked him at the time, but he was right of course. The old and current war-monger and tangential "oilman" was telling the "truth". as far as he knows (or "to the best of his knowledge", to quote an old friend of his in Washington).
(My advice is that when the dust settles, and within only weeks from now, all these foreign forces should get the hell out and let the Libyans sort it out. The Libyans can operate their own military, their own security services and, when necessary, they have long experience in operating their own interrogation cells. Just do your bit and get out (GTFO). Just as the French did in the new United States more than two centuries ago).
