Gulf GCC: on Jordanian Accession, Roman Dinarius, Israeli Shekel, and Kosher Currency……
Rattlesnake Ridge
It says here that one potentate, the foreign minister of the UAE, Shaikh Wahatishisface al-Nahayan has decreed that negotiations on Jordanian "membership" in the GCC will be postponed because of the holy month of Ramadan. These potentates are acting as if this “Jordanian membership” is serious business. It is not, not in my judgement. If there is any expansion of the GCC it will in the form of an “associate” membership or some other (very) watered down form. At best, or at worst, depending on one’s point of view, there will be two-tiered membership” full members of the current Gulf GCC and one or two or even three “partial” members. I am willing to bet 10 dollars on that. Better yet, I am willing to bet one Roman Dinarius on it.
(FYI: the Dinar (so-called Gulf Dinar, Islamic Dinar, Jordanian Dinar, etc) came from the Roman Dinarius, the ancient currency of Rom since before Caesar, since before Christ, since before Cato the Elder. It is a pagan currency unit. As for the Rial (Riyal) it came from the Spanish “Real” meaning royal. It is a heathen (Catholic) currency unit. The Dirham (UAE) probably came from the Greek Draxma? I think it would be best to call any new Gulf currency (if it ever happens) the Shekel (not the NIS), since that is the oldest known Middle East currency. Besides, it is Semitic to boot, hence kosher).
