Al-Qaeda in Iraq: Refinancing or Issuing Islamic Paper………….

Al-Qaeda militants in Iraq have made an online appeal for new fundraising ideas, saying they are in dire need of money to help thousands of widows and children of slain fighters. Insurgents of the Islamic State of Iraq - an umbrella group for Sunni militants- have funded their operations in the past by robbing jewelry stores, banks and offices where the government pays out monthly salaries. But the group has seen its main source of money, funding from abroad, dry up, leaving the group strapped for cash. In an Arabic statement posted on al-Qaeda in Iraq's online forum, website administrator Seif Saad lamented the state of the group's finances and launched an urgent appeal for money to "feed the widows and the orphans" of mujahedeen, or holy warriors…….

I guess these guys, many of them uninvited Salafi 'guests' from neighboring Arab states, can’t refinance or take out a second mortgage. Nor can they issue any paper, not even Islamic paper, in the current tight credit market. Being a terrorist bomber is a career that is frowned upon by most bankers. Their deep-pocketed sugar daddies must be holding back, the princes getting tight with the money. That is to be expected, what with the tens of billions of expensive weapons deals and a hundred billion of funds to buy the people’s silence, for now. Perhaps they can try and sell some of the concubines, liquidate a few second or third wives. They can always acquire new ones when the times are good, although I suspect the good times are gone for these Salafi terrorists.
Cheers
