The officer, from the elite al-Quds force of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards Corps, was captured by US special forces on December 18, a Nato spokesman said. Described as "a key Taliban weapons facilitator", he was arrested in Kandahar province. "The joint security team specifically targeted the individual for facilitating the movement of weapons between Iran and Kandahar through Nimroz province," a Nato statement said. It is the first reported instance of the capture of an al-Quds officer in Afghanistan. Several Iranian soldiers and operatives were caught in Iraq between 2006 and 2008……...”

You’d think NATO has just discovered an extraterrestrial in Afghanistan. I am not sure why this is supposed to be shocking: an Iranian officer who may be supplying the Taliban. They do have a wild common border that is probably a thousand kilometers long. After all, what do they think the Pakistani intelligence (ISI) is doing, on and off? Afghanistan is teeming with officers and armed men and women from many countries: USA, Europe, Canada, Pakistan (on both sides), Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Yemen, Jordan (on both sides), Morocco, Algeria, the Gulf states, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Afghanistan (both sides and some), possibly even Belize, among others. Then there are that new breed that belong only to the money: the private contractors.
As for Iraq: no doubt Iranian operatives have been active there since 2003 (hell, some of them may have entered and raced down the highway from Safwan along with the American and British forces).
But Iraq has been plagued with a flood of brotherly terrorists (no sisterly fighters yet) from brotherly and sisterly neighboring absolute Arab oligarchies doing "some oligarchic God's" destruction and selective killing. Did I forget to mention the flood of money from "selective" potentates to feed and house and even temporarily marry off these murderous brotherly visitors?
Cheers
