“ADELAIDE, Australia-- An Australian woman who burned her husband to death said she intended to burn only his genitals, prosecutors said. The prosecution in Rajini Narayan's murder trial in South Australia's Supreme Court in Adelaide said Wednesday she made the claim to neighbors right after the fire, the Australian Broadcasting Corp. reported. Prosecutors said Narayan set her husband, Satish, on fire at their home in December 2008 because she thought he was having an affair. The defense said she came to believe that if she burned his penis he would stay with her, but she ended up throwing a container of gasoline and a candle on his back when he dismissed her threat. He died from his burns three weeks later.……”

It is sad, but there was some glimmer of true love in there. Some cynic might say that perhaps it is as well that poor Satish did not survive it, but not I. Three weeks is along time to die, even if the weather is good in December in Australia.
