Iranian Natural Gas: a Big “If”, Hot Gas and Congress…………..

“Iran oil minister says Tehran would gain $100 billion annually if all phases of the South Pars gas field get completed. According to SHANA news agency, Masoud Mirkazemi said that at the end to the fifth five-year-Development Plan (2010 – 2015), Iran’s gas output would rise to 1.1 billion cubic meters per day. Stressing on the investment in oil industry, the minister of petroleum said that the legal department should prepare the ground to attract the financial and other resources for projects and reduce the risk for investors. Noting that oil industry resources alone can not meet developmental needs, Mirkazemi stressed on absorbing financial resources from outside the oil industry, whether domestically or from abroad. ……..” al-Alam
“If all phases of the South Pars gas field get completed”. I think that IF may prove to be a big “if” indeed these days. The Iranians have the second biggest world gas reserves, after the US Congress (but the latter is just hot natural gas and its supply is unlimited). They may have some trouble exploiting all their proven reserves.
