On Carla Bruni, Nicolas Sarlozy, Saddam Hussein, and Sakineh Ashtiani…….
“Aug. 24 (Bloomberg) -- French first lady Carla Bruni- Sarkozy published a letter today in three national media outlets supporting an Iranian mother sentenced to death by stoning after being convicted of adultery. The case of Sakineh Mohammadi Ashtiani has drawn international condemnation after the mother of two was sentenced to death. Bruni-Sarkozy called on the Iranian authorities to grant clemency. “Judges must understand it, Sakineh, your name has become a symbol across the globe,” she wrote. “My husband will plead your cause,” Bruni-Sarkozy added in the letter published in Liberation newspaper, Elle magazine and La Regle du Jeu’s web site……..” Iran Focus
Carla Bruni would do better to plead the poor woman’s case herself. Nicolas Sarkozy has about as much credibility as Saddam Hussein did with the Iranian government. In fact, Sarko has about as much credibility with the French people as Saddam Hussein did with the Iranians and the Kuwaitis and the Kurds combined.
Forget Sarko, Carla, but you don’t have to ditch him, yet. Do it yourself; go to Tehran.
