Fatwa on Marital Snooping: Auntie Tom of Egypt and Female Circumcision………

Egyptian female religious figure Suad Salih (I have never heard of her, don’t know who she is) has issued a fatwa banning women from spying on their husbands’ cell phones and emails. This girlie fatwa by the professor of Islamic theology at al-Azhar University and former dean of the college of Islamic studies also bans reading IMs. She said such snooping would create tension and disagreement in the family, something she said Islam rejects as spying. She said she is against any type of wife-spying even if the husband has multiple relations (presumably with other women). The theologian chick did not ban husbands snooping on their wives emails and cell phones, perhaps on the assumption that Egyptian wives are too feeble to engage in such high-tech hanky-panky anyway, or maybe she thinks all Egyptian women have been female-circumcised so there is no fear of “straying”.
Needless to say, this has angered many women who would call her Auntie Thom(asina), if they knew anything about Harriet Beecher Stowe’s book.

Cheers
