I once wrote here, many moons ago, that this collaboration between al-Waleed and Robert Murdoch is an example of contempt breeding familiarity, eventually. Prince al-Waleed and Fox News are starting a new Arabic news network to compete with Aljazeera (Qatari-owned) and Alarabiya (Saudi-owned). Aljazeera is the most popular Arabic news network, hated by almost all Arab oligarchies for its controversial topics and guests, while the Alarabiya viewers are probably mostly concentrated in Saudi Arabia and the Gulf (and US administration officials). I predict that the new network will fail to surpass Aljazeera, unless Aljazeera changes its policy and format drastically.
