And be humble in your bearing, neither dragging slowly nor rushing, but peaceful and dignified, and lower your voice; indeed the most hideous of voices is the donkey’s voice’…..Holy Quran: Surat Luqman

This Kurdish website quotes Alhurriya News that a leader of a new Kurdish party called the Party of Donkeys (has asked) the Kurdistan Regional Government of Iraq to provide financial support for him because he intended to open a radio station for the party with the name of "Bray." The party secretary Omar Klol said in an interview that he had submitted a memorandum bearing the name of hundreds of member donkeys of his party, calling on the PM of the Kurdistan Regional Government (Barham Saleh) to provide material support for the establishment of private radio of the party, pointing out that this radio will carry the name of Bray. Klol responded to his critics by asking: is not one of the biggest parties of America is the donkey party, the party of asses? Referring to the ruling Democratic Party in America. He declined to note that both American parties have their fair share of asses, but that one has much more than the other. Apparently the Donkeys PKK (official name of the party) was founded in 2005, as Mr. Klol claims, and he insists it will add a creative aspect to the democratic process in Kurdistan.

Again the Kurds take the lead in institutionalizing a fact that exists on the ground in the Middle East. That fact is: the prominence of asses (donkeys) in the political, as well as social and economic and especially intellectual, life in the region. This party is also a novelty in a different way for the Arab world: what other Arab asses (donkeys) get by birth or by military or party coups, this party aims to get through elections. It is an improvement over the traditional style of politicking in the Middle East. Once I have read their platform, I may even be willing to contribute a bale of hay to this donkey party.

Cheers
