Hamas Bans Women from Public Smoking, No News about Mary Jane……..
“Gaza's Hamas rulers are banning women from smoking water pipes in cafes, claiming it violates tradition and leads to divorce. "The police have decided to ban women from smoking water pipes in open, public places because it is against our customs, traditions and social norms," interior ministry spokesman Ihab al-Ghussein told AFP. The smoking of water pipes loaded with sweetened tobacco, also known as nargileh or shisha, is popular in cafes across the Arab world and was one of the few remaining leisure activities left in the isolated coastal strip…….”
Maybe these officials think that the men, seeing a pipe between a woman’s lips, will get the “wrong” idea. Maybe they think it is too suggestive, given that many other things, less suggestive, things are either banned by Hamas or blocked by Israel in Gaza.
No news about marijuana or whatever it is these Hamas fundamentalist officials smoke before issuing these interesting “fatwas”.
