A Press Prize is Awarded to a Chief Censor on the Gulf………

“The Gulf Press Society and Freedom of Media and the Arab Press Society have announced that Shaikha Mona Bint Mohammed al-Khalifa, Bahraini Minister (ess?) of Culture and Information has won the title of “Gulf Media Personality for 2010.” President of the Gulf Society said that the Shaikha Mona received the award for her work to improve Gulf media and her defense of freedom of expression..…….”
Normally, media awards are given to media workers, to people who write and opine in the media. Normally, such awards are NOT given to people who supervise the media and enforce censorship rule on behalf of a governments, as all Arab ministers of information see as their first priority, as all Arab information ministers have always seen their priority to be. Only in the Arab world is the Press or Media award given to a representative of a ruling oligarchy, one whose rule it is to stifle the media.
