An Emergency AIPAC Wing of the Right Wing, Bolshevik Fly-Over States of America…………

The Emergency Committee for Israel’s leadership unites two major strands of support for the Jewish state: The hawkish, neoconservative wing of the Republican Party, many of whom are Jewish, and conservative Evangelical Christians who have become increasingly outspoken in their support for Israel. The new group’s board includes Weekly Standard Editor William Kristol and Gary Bauer, the former Republican presidential candidate who leads the group American Values, as well as Rachel Abrams, a conservative writer and activist. “We’re the pro-Israel wing of the pro-Israel community,” said Kritol……

Many, perhaps most, Arabs believe that AIPAC determines the outcome of US elections. This legend is like a vein that runs through almost all conversation about the Palestinian-Israeli conflict and through most (I don’t want to say all, just in case) Middle East media. This is obviously an exaggeration resulting from a misunderstanding of American democracy and ignorance of its complex electoral system.

Now, finally, some of them are becoming aware of a more potent pro-Israel element than AIPAC in the US political decision-making: the extreme Christian right wing that is not confined to the “two coasts”, but is rather stronger in the fly-over Red (Bolshevik) states. It fills a gap that used to exist in the strong pro-Israeli lobby in America. These people, like some Jewish settlers in the West Bank, claim a literal interpretation of the Bible, and they hope that when “the moment is right” as the famous television ad says, all the Jews will convert to the true faith (and I don’t mean Islam here).

As for Bill Kristol: had his late father remained a Trotskyite, he probably would not be such an anally retentive right winger. He wouldn’t be a Trotskyite, very few people probably are, but he would be at least closer to….hmm. Okay maybe Susan Collins o Scott Brown who can’t be too far off right in New England.

Cheers
