Some Arab media on the Persian Gulf often echo Iraqi Ba’athist claims that actually Iraqi or Iranian agents (meaning Shi’as) were behind these butcheries in Iraqi cities .These are also the claims often made by some of Ayad Allawi’s allies in Aliraqiya Sunni bloc. They even have former (and maybe current) Ba’athists in Gulf media writing editorials to that effect, an interesting case of déjà vu all over again: so reminiscent of the times pre-1990. It feels like they never stopped in 1990: the rubbish is nearly verbatim from their old editorials. They are still good at the old Ba’ath doublespeak in my native Gulf (well, in only one or two states), at least the lousy media are. Something about the Ba’ath that still appeals to these controlled media of the plutocrats in my Gulf, maybe it is what they call the Stockholm Syndrome (look it up).
