Joe Biden in Iraq Bending Elbows with Sistani: to Visit Shrines and Spend Ramadan, no Allawi Connection………..

US Vice President Joe Biden arrived in Iraq on Saturday for a surprise visit aimed at bolstering the war-torn country's fledgling democracy almost four months after an inconclusive election. Biden, who also visited Iraq in January this year, was greeted by US ambassador to Baghdad Christopher Hill, US commander in Iraq General Ray Odierno and Iraqi Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari……

This is not his first visit this year. He's been to Baghdad more than he has even been to Omaha, if he has ever been to Omaha (I know he has never been to Birmingham or Mecca).
Reports tell that Biden’s visit has no connection to bolstering Ayad allawi, the favorite Saudi candidate for prime minister (the Saudi candidate for prime minister of Iraq, not of Saudi Arabia. In case you didn’t know, Saudi Arabia does not allow candidates for prime minister: they have born prime ministers. In fact they do not allow elections for anything including kindergarten president or dogcatcher or chief swineherd.). Okay, he must have gone to visit the holy Shi’a shrines in Karbala, perhaps bend the elbow with al-Sistani at Najaf, and maybe spend Ramadan over there.

Cheers
