Radars and First Aid Kits to Syria are Worse than Cluster Bombs and Bombers to Israel…………

“JERUSALEM—Iran has sent Syria a sophisticated radar system that could threaten Israel's ability to launch a surprise attack against Iran's nuclear facilities, say Israeli and U.S. officials, extending an alliance aimed at undermining Israel's military dominance in the region. The radar could bolster Syria's defenses by providing early warning of Israeli air-force sorties. It could also benefit Hezbollah, the Iran-backed militant group based in Lebanon and widely believed to receive arms from Syria……. The mid-2009 transfer was described in recent months by two Israeli officials, two U.S. officials and a Western intelligence source, and confirmed Wednesday by the Israeli military….. ran and Syria both denied that a radar transfer took place…....”
Oddly: both sides call this news a stunt. Israelis call it an Iranian stunt to raise tensions on the Mediterranean and divert attention from Iran’s nuclear program. Iranians call it an Israeli (and Western) stunt to divert attention from whatever is occurring on the Palestinian fronts.
Okay now why is this so controversial about this? If true, it means Iran provided advanced radar to Syria to protect Syria and Iranian territory. It certainly is purely defensive, it is not exactly supplying Scuds or other offensive weapons. Now, in a twist of logic, “defensive” weapons for the wrong side are considered “offensive”, but “offensive” weapons for the right side are considered “defensive”. By this odd logic, if Iran supplies gas masks or first aid kits to Syria that would be considered “offensive” in the West, but if the West supplies murderous cluster bombs to Israel that is considered “defensive”.
I know, I am being a bit naïve here, not being a military strategist and seeing the "whole picture", but this whole thing is still a piss-offing thing, n’est-ce pas?
