“Riyadh: Saudi Arabic daily newspaper Al Yaum reported on Monday that a Saudi mother asked the newspaper to help her marry her six daughters who are extremely beautiful, well-educated and wealthy. "Young men from the relatives and the neighbours do not know them. I am willing to marry them through "Misyar" marriage if it was the only solution to their celibacy," she said. Misyar marriage is carried out via the normal contractual procedure, with the specificity that the husband and wife give up several rights by their own free will, such as the wife's rights to housing, and maintenance money. The daily, issued in Dammam in the Eastern Province, quoted the mother as saying: "I hope to find good young Saudi men with the matchmakers who are willing to marry my daughters”….. “My husband will not make any financial obligations on anyone coming out to marry any one of my daughters. Instead he will help the would-be-husband if the young man is committed and good mannered." Celibacy among Saudi women has greatly increased during the past few years for various reasons including unfavourable financial conditions and the rising rates of unemployment.…….”

Mesayar is basically a part-time, or time-share, marriage designed in Saudi Arabia, where the “married” couple do not even live together. They set up certain times when they meet and do “one of the things” that married couples are supposed to do.
