“The young men were sentenced to serve one to two years in prison while two women were sentenced to one year each in prison and the remaining two to 80 lashes. Criminal intelligence officers arrested the young men and women with the support of the Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice. Informed sources told Arab News that the commission got information an Arab man had rented a house in Hail for parties and had invited the four women to the function. “All arrangements had been completed for the party and they had brought liquor. But the intervention of commission officials turned their plans upside down,”………….”
(By "spending the night together" they don’t mean what you think: it just means they were caught under the same roof during the night. Last year a Saudi professor who had met his female student at a coffee shop was sentenced to flogging. A public coffee shop is no-no under the watermelon laws. I would have thought a steep ratio of 11 men and only 4 women would be a suspicious ratio, eve if they were all Saudis: that is no excuse).
That is what happens when members of the Commission for the Propagation of Vice are not invited to a party. They crash it and you get to go to jail and get flogged.
