“Dubai's influential police chief called Thursday on officials running the emirate's biggest companies he blames for racking up an estimated $100 billion pile of debt to resign. "Those who caused the debt should leave the scene as fast as possible," Dahi Khalfan Tamim, who also sits on the emirate's powerful Executive Council, told Zawya Dow Jones in an interview. "They are midgets in the eyes of people." He declined to name specific officials or companies. Tamim's remarks to Zawya Dow Jones come on the day that Dubai World announced an agreement with major creditors to restructure $23.5 billion of debt. The giant government-owned conglomerate's shock decision to seek restructuring last year has weighed heavily on the emirate's economy and undermined the confidence of international investors in its financial model……...”
Shades of Eliot Spitzer and New York in the good old days, when he had the crooks and the borderline crooks of Wall Street quaking. That was Spitzer before they did a Godfather II number on him with les girls.
