“Manama: Bahrain and Arabic music giant Rotana have rejected a media report which claimed that one of the Bahrain king's sons has produced a CD containing Shiite liturgical lyrics and chants. Kuwaiti newspaper Al Dar on Tuesday reported in an article on its front page that Shaikh Nasser Bin Hamad Al Khalifa produced the CD Ashura Miracle with the help of a famous composer who provided the music for the lyrics. Al Dar attributed the report to websites it did not name, but said that Shaikh Nasser wrote the lyrics and performed the chants. The alleged CD cover featured the picture of Shaikh Nasser wearing a black bandana to tie his long hair and looking confidently ahead. "Ashura Miracle, written and performed by Shaikh Nasser Bin Hamad Al Khalifa" was written on the cover, which also featured the green Rotana music logo on the top left………..”
Maybe it is true, maybe not- who cares. Some Saudi media seemed offended by the whole idea, more offended than the Bahrain royals themselves. But then again, who cares? Isn’t he the same young chap who advanced Michael Jackson millions for a promise that they would record an album together a couple of years ago? But Jacko was not a Shi’a was he? There were reports, hopeful reports, in the Saudi media that he was ready to convert (presumably to Wahhabism) before he died. No conspiracy theories going around yet about that last one, but give it time.
To sum up, and to put it mildly: who gives a fuck what the princeling does?
Cheers
