“Allawi win of 91 seats is a ‘white coup’…..and a great success for the American Saudi plan to return the Ba’ath to power…… Finally results have been announced, and they did not divert from expectations of the biggest steal in the world…. And it has transformed a bunch of former Ba’ath security men and henchmen of the former regime and other sectarians into leaders of the political process in Iraq……” Iraq’s Nahrain.net which seems to be affiliated with the Iraqi National Alliance (mainly the Shi’a ISCI, Sadrists, and others; 71 seats).

From their websites, it looks like the major Shi’a (Shi’ite) alliances (together have at least 160 seats) are blaming some American-Saudi plot to accommodate the Ba’athists by giving them a share of power. If that were true, it will not work: Ba’athists have a long history of killing off their allies and taking over. They did it with the Pan-Arabists and they did it with the Communists.

The State of Law and the INA may be getting ready for an alliance which would marginalize Allawi and dominate the political process again. Or maybe not. I just don’t want my fatwa to be broken, and it won’t be broken.
I will hold judgment for a few more hours before deciding whether there was in fact a plot to get Allawi ahead. But a plan does not necessarily mean tampering with the votes; although a lot of foreign money (many millions) has been floating around Iraq in the past few weeks.
Cheers
