Arabian March Madness: Saudi Cleric Suggests Replacing Kaaba with a Shopping Mall………

“Saudi cleric yesterday suggested demolishing the Grand Mosque in Mecca and replacing it with a new one featuring "10, 20 or 30" floors to prevent men and women from mingling during pilgrimages, says a report in our sister paper Akhbar Al Khaleej. Sheikh Yousif Al Ahmed, an Islamic scholar and Al Imam University's Sharia teaching faculty member, was speaking during a phone-in on a Saudi satellite television show. A viewer posed video footage of the show on the YouTube website, dubbing the cleric "the new Ibraha" after the tyrant who wanted to demolish the Ka'aba 14 centuries ago..……”

Presumably with underground parking and a Cineplex on the top floor, complete with san Imax-3D. A Tully’s or Starbucks might not be a bad idea, ya shaikh. Only a week ago, a “controversial” Egyptian writer (a lay-man) suggested that his country open its own competing Kaaba for pilgrimage in the Sinai, to compete with Saudi Arabia.
It is not clear what is going on with all this tampering with the holy places this spring. It may have something to do with March Madness, but these people probably never heard of the Hoyas and the Huskies and the Wild Tigers and……..
