Visiting Brazilia President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva and Jordan's King Abdullah II explored ways of reviving stalled Middle East peace talks on Wednesday, a palace statement said. In a closed-door meeting, the two leaders "reviewed regional developments and ways to overcome the hurdles preventing Palestinian-Israeli peace talks based on a two-state solution from advancing," the statement said. Later, their two delegations joined in for talks to "examine ways of developing bilateral economic relations, particularly in the energy and technology fields," it added………….”

Lula also asked the King about the Jordanian humor, if he could borrow some of it. The King told him that his whole government has been looking for it, to no avail. The king added that if he, Lula, found any humor in Jordan, the King would be grateful for it. Lula suggested that perhaps Jordan should adopt the Caipirinha as its national refreshment, that it seemed to work in Brazil. Then Lula looked pensive, adding “But you probably need a lot of it, perhaps several, just to get things going…..
As for myself, if my extensive but sporadic research ever funds any, I shall fly to Brazil immediately to share with them. Lula can email a copy to Amman.
