Iraqi Shaikh Hayes Complains, Rotten Forked-Tongued Shaikhs of al-Anbar………..

“Chief of the Al-anbar Salvation Council, Shaikh Hamad al-Hayes, said that the shaikhs of sal-Anbar province are stooges for whoever pays them more. He said he can make them dance for US$ 500. Chief of Iraq Awakening retorted that these statements are a result of frustration because people did not vote for al-Hayes. Meanwhile, the Emir of the al-Delaim tribes warned that he will not allow ‘paid agents’ to insult shaikhs of the province…… Al-hayes also said the shaikhs were two-faced……….”

Clearly this al-Hayes guy is frustrated because they did not vote for him. Nothing worse for a tribal shaikhs than not being voted into a democratic parliament. On the other hand he is probably also right: I bet a lot of dollars is flowing into al-Anbar, among other places.
Back home, “khayes” means rotten, but that may not be the same as “hayes”.
