A Georgian woman is set to become the first ever female ambassador to Saudi Arabia, a Kuwaiti daily said on Thursday. Yekaterina Mayering-Mikadze, the current Georgian ambassador to Kuwait, also represents her country in Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Oman, Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates. She said cooperation with the Gulf States was a "paramount task" for Georgia, especially in agriculture, real estate, tourism and finance. Mayering-Mikadze has already submitted her credentials to the Saudi foreign affairs minister and is waiting for an audience with the country's monarch……..”

Under the radar old Najd is gradually, very gradually, changing. A woman ambassador: who would have thunk it. what will i be next in the closed kingdom: free elections and a Hooters outlet? But she was already accredited to other GCC states, so she only needs to fly every month or so into Riyadh, if at all.
Would she have to wear an abaya and perhaps a burqaa in Riyadh on visits? Probably just an abaya in public. She will not have to wear anything in the other Gulf states (not anything unusual like an abaya etc.).
Cheers
