Defensive Turks, Pandering Congress, Plymouth Rock to Wounded Knee……

“A congressional panel approved a resolution Thursday declaring the Ottoman-era killing of Armenians genocide over protests by Turkey, a NATO ally that is crucial to U.S. interests in the Middle East and Afghanistan. Minutes after the vote, Turkey said it was recalling its ambassador from Washington. The House Foreign Affairs Committee endorsed the resolution with a 23-22 vote Thursday, even though the Obama administration had urged Congress not to offend Turkey by approving it.”

The Turks are too damn sensitive about their shortcomings. In that they are truly Middle Eastern, much more so than, say, the Greeks who are also sensitive. The Armenian Genocide is a fact; it happened, but it happened so long ago, and the fact that the US congress is pandering in this election year about it should not be taken too seriously. Only congressional measures related to spending, taxing, and war should be taken seriously.
If the Turks want to get even, by their own standards, they should get their parliament to vote on Native American Genocide (1620 at Plymouth Rock-1890 at Wounded Knee). That way the score will be even.
