A Dormant Thought Foundation……………
At lunchtime I checked the website of the Arab Thought Foundation. There is nothing new posted since last fall. There must not be much thinking going on these days in the Arab world.
Decided to check on the Board of Trustees; maybe that had changed. But no, it looked the same, composed of 39 potentates and their retainers. Looked for the words “democracy” and “freedom of speech” anywhere, and I was not disappointed: they are nowhere to be seen.
There was, however, some news ticker about a new Chair of Prince Turkey Bin Nasser Bin Abdulaziz for Environmental Studies in the OIC countries. Something else about another potentate’s literary prize going to someone, and a crown prince honoring a poet who won a prize, etc…
I wanted to share this with you. Will keep you posted on this and my other tough quest (on Jordanian humor).
