Sarkozy’s Battle of Hastings Peters Out…………
“Recently, when French President Nicolas Sarkozy said that the United Nations should adopt "strong measures" against Iran in its pursuit to develop nuclear energy, and on a different occasion when he hinted that Israel might take action to prevent the Iranian regime from obtaining a nuclear bomb, it was reminiscent of another Frenchman, William of Normandy. William of Normandy-a region in northern France-was distantly related to Edward the Confessor, king of England. When King Edward died without an heir, William claimed the crown, even though his assertion was based on a questionable hereditary right. In 1066, William and his fleet of ships and knights crossed the English Channel. At the Battle of Hastings, William defeated King Harold, who had already seized the throne of England……………… In regards to Iran's peaceful pursuit to develop nuclear energy, let's hope France's leader, Nicolas Sarkozy, does not cross the Mediterranean Sea and Persian Gulf and attempts to invade Iran, whether it be verbally, militarily, or by encouraging and then supporting an Israeli attack. Like William of Normandy who assumed the throne was his, President Sarkozy should be cautious in his assumption that Iran is making a nuclear weapon. Like William the Conqueror, who believed he was on a divine mission, President Sarkozy should be very careful when he says that to hesitate or to prevaricate in the face of such an issue (Iran's peaceful quest to develop nuclear energy) would carry with it a great weight of responsibility. In claiming that the wearing of the full veil is a challenge to the republic and it was unacceptable and an excess, President Sarkozy might want to reconsider the religious values of others too, especially since France is home to six million Muslims………..”
I don’t know what to make of this article; initially it looked interesting but then it petered out…...
