The Gulf: Of Missing Sailors and Globalization of Fishing……………..

Tehran has notified Saudi border control that they are holding five Saudi fishing boats and their 18 sailors who are of Asian nationalities (mostly Indians) three weeks after the boats were seized. Saudi spokesman noted that the announcement should have been done much earlier according to international law……..”

He is right: why did it take three weeks to announce the seizure? It is globalization in our Gulf economies, where all the boats are locally registered, but all the sailors are from poor countries in Asia and Egypt. Most of those who eat the fish are local.
