Pushy Clinton, Maverick(y) Iranians, Annoying Sarkozy, Dank Neocon Cellars……………

              


Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton tried to jump-start a global effort to press Iran on its nuclear program, meeting here on Wednesday with foreign ministers from Russia, Indonesia and Turkey, and preparing for a meeting on Thursday with the foreign minister of China, which has been reluctant to consider fresh sanctions against Tehran. Mrs. Clinton’s diplomatic whirlwind came on the sidelines of two days of international conferences, on Yemen on Wednesday and Afghanistan on Thursday, convened by Prime Minister Gordon Brown of Britain. In a sign of how large these problems loom, aides to Mrs. Clinton said President Obama asked her to fly to London, even though it meant missing his State of the Union address Wednesday evening……...…”

Iranian government media, especially television, often refer to Hillary Clinton as “pushy”. I have noticed the term being used at least twice in the past couple of months. An interesting, and very American, term to use in Tehran. They never call France’s Sarkozy “pushy”, and he is probably the most annoying Western leader to them since the Neoconservatives departed the Washington limelight and into their dark dank cellars.
FYI: by annoying I mean not just to Iranian leaders, but also annoying to most French people. What about Carla Bruni?
