The French, Obsession de la Voile, Obsession de l'Amour, What About Health Care…………
“French lawmakers Tuesday recommended a partial ban on any veils that cover the face -- including the burqa, the full-body covering worn by some Muslim women. The ban on the "voile integrale" -- which literally means "total veil" -- would apply in public places like hospitals and schools, and on public transport, a French parliamentary commission announced. It would also apply to anyone who attempts to receive public services, but it would not apply to people wearing the burqa on the street, the commission said…………”
The French seem to be spending a lot of time on the burqaa and niqab, whether and how to ban them. They seem to spend almost as much time on that as American legislators and media have spent on Obama’s health care reform- but with better results. There used to be a legend, there still is, especially among some erotically-challenged Brits, that the French are obsessed with amorous pursuits (a k a a sex). They still are, as are all other nations but perhaps less publicly. But the veil has replaced l’amour as the “public” national pastime for now, or so it seems.
I have my serious and well-founded doubts.
In retaliation, the Afghans and Saudis should vote to ban the bikini from their shores.
Cheers
