Globalized Ethereal State of al-Qaeda: Doing God’s Work, Bonuses Deferred, no Green Jobs and no Steve Jobs……….

U.S. Drone Missile Kills Filipino Bomber in Pakistan. An alleged Abu Sayyaf demolition expert wanted by the United States for $1M is believed to have been killed in an American drone strike close to the Afghan border earlier this month, Pakistani intelligence officials said Thursday. If confirmed, the death of Abdul Basit Usman would represent another success for the U.S. covert missile program on targets in Pakistan. There have been an unprecedented number of attacks this month following a deadly Dec. 30 bombing of a Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) base in Afghanistan. There had been no previous indication that Usman, who was captured by Philippine authorities in 2002 but escaped months later, was in Pakistan. If the reports of his death are true, it may indicate stronger ties between the worldwide terror group al-Qaida and Southeast Asian extremist groups than previously thought.……….”

This is true globalization, much more potent than the corporate version that the guys and gals at CNBC and FBN have (figurative) orgasms over. US drones, from Afghanistan or the Indian Ocean, in Pakistan, killed a Filipino bomber, who worked for a group headed by a Saudi man with wives from Yemen and Syria and Saudi Arabia, with a cranky Egyptian deputy, that trains people in Yemen and Pakistan and Africa, has a network of headhunters and recruiters in London and other European cities, perhaps America as well, has ties to groups in East Africa, North Africa, and West Africa, jetsets across the Mediterranean, the Persian Gulf, and Asia, with stops in places like Quetta, Peshawar, and Los Canarios. Claims to be doing “God’s Work”, but no known connections to Goldman Sachs.
And they have benefits and bonuses, but no cash, mostly in stock options. All bonuses deferred to a future date, can be exercised only upon performance followed by relocation.

Think about it: enough to make Thomas Friedman muse loudly, as he is wont to do, about the blessings and curses of globalization. And the Chinese, and Steve Jobs, Jobs, Jobs, especially green Jobs.
Cheers
