What the MEMRI, Equal Opportunity Propaganda?……………

This paragraph, if true, may explain a lot about MEMRI. But it is all fair, I have my own leanings too:
MEMRI was co-founded in 1998 by Yigal Carmon, a former senior government adviser and former colonel in Israeli military intelligence, and another Israeli Meyrav Wurmser. It provides a free source of English language translations of material published in Arabic and Persian script, and publishes its analyses and in-depth reports on its website…………

As an example, MEMRI summarized the Gaza wall (Mubarak Wall) quite simply as an issue between Arab governments only, completely ignoring that many, if not most, Egyptian people as well as other Arabs, most likely oppose it:
Throughout December 2009, it was reported in the region's media that Egypt was constructing an underground steel barrier on its border with the Gaza Strip to stop smuggling via tunnels.[1] These reports led to an anti-Egypt campaign, led by Hamas, which harshly condemned the construction of the barrier and called for it to stop immediately. Hamas held protests that led to violent incidents between the Palestinians and Egyptians on the border, and increased the state of alert on the Egyptian side.[2] Hamas received the backing of Iran and Hizbullah, who claimed that Egypt was aiming to topple the Hamas regime. It was also backed by other countries and organizations in the Arab world, such as Syria, Qatar, and the Muslim Brotherhood, who spoke out angrily against Egypt. It seems that Egypt remains almost completely isolated, and even Saudi Arabia, considered its ally in the moderate Arab axis, has offered it almost no support…….

Okay, it clearly has strong Israeli leanings which color its selections of what to publish. It pays tender attention to all Muslims and Arabs as well. It is an equal opportunity propagandist against Arabs and Muslims in general; especially the “wrong kind” of Arabs, but its splash has touched all Arabs, even amenable New Middle East Arab oligarchs. It translates and summarizes media and its staff writes papers and columns on its website. Sort of like what I do on this blog; and obviously I have my own biases as well. Some would say it is not a ‘research center”, not that it matters: I consider my regular ranting here more readable and sometimes even more logical than a lot of “research” I have read .
(Confession: I read its website periodically; not every day, but every couple or three days, so obviously I find it of some use.)
Cheers
