Shaikhs Cancel New Year’s Celebrations Overseas…………

“Shaikh Abdulmuhsin Al-Obeikan, Council of the Saudi Royal court has warned Muslims against participation in New Year celebrations with foreigners. He said in an interview with the Saudi Sabaq site that “it is not allowed for a Muslim to join foreigners in their holidays because he who imitates a people becomes one of them”. He pointed out that the Prophet Mohammed warned against imitating them or adopting their manners. Meanwhile, Shaikh Ahmad al-Mu’abi of the Ministry of Justice warned Saudi students on scholarships outside the Kingdom against participating in New Year celebrations….. He advised students not to go to places where such celebrations occur because immoral things happen in these places….”

I don’t know about ‘their manners”, they are often better than ours (but not always). And that last shaikh, by warning them about “immoral things happening in these places”: he could not have done better to get all these youngsters wanting to go to these places. I guess they try to make sure no one is having any fun, no one that is royal or a potentate, even outside the kingdom of virtue. Maybe they should open branches of the Authority for the Propagation of Vice (Religious Police) with their embassies overseas. Just to keep an eye on the kids, and on the men and women who might think of doing as the Romans do……..
Just making sure nobody is having any more fun than they did when they were young.
Cheers and Happy New Year, Shaikhs.
