Gulf Media again Claim War Imminent, Egyptians to the Rescue?…………….

Some highly unreliable Arab media seem to think Iran may be facing military action after all. The least reliable newspaper of all, alseyassah (Kuwait), reports that Israel and the US are gearing up to destroy Hezbollah in Lebanon before attacking Iran. That daily rag has been doing that for years now, probably hoping that it may get its wish eventually. It also reports now that Egypt is offering up to 100 thousand troops to protect some Gulf states from Iranian retaliation if there is a war. (It doesn’t say what would Iran be retaliating against the Gulf states for if she were attacked by Israel). I am not sure about the efficacy of Egyptian forces. I would not want my family depending on Egyptians against foreign attack. The Egyptians have not won a war since Mohammed Ali’s Son Ibrahim defeated the al-Saud and their Wahhabi ikhwan allies over 180 years ago. And the troops were led by Mamluk officers at the time. They have lost ALL their other wars, especially against Israel, even the one they claim to have won. Lately, they botched their campaign against Egypt’s ancient swine community. They claim to have eradicated all Egypt’s four-legged pigs, but I have my serious doubts.
Asharq Alawsat (Saudi) notes that Iranian foreign minister Muttaki is traveling in the region shoring up support. It claims that Muttaki has called for a regional grouping among Iran-Saudi Arabia- Egypt-Turkey and that this reflects an Iranian weakness and a realization by the mullahs that Iran could be in trouble and needs friends. I have yet to verify this, since Muttaki has not been to Riyadh yet, as he would be if this were the case. Maybe this is so; that is what foreign minister are supposed to do: travel and make high-minded statements, even while their governments are playing cat and mouse with the UN.
Cheers and Happy Holidays
