In Praise of a Tenacious Dictator……….

We do not want President Mubarak to remind us of the Egyptian presidential elections although they will take place in less than two years. Egypt is still loaded with the achievements realized in the era of Mubarak, and she needs to complete these achievements. He, as usual, is truthful and honest with himself, with his country…….. Yes, we tell President Mubarak : don’t remind us of the date of the presidential elections unless you will select the successor who will maintain your achievements and has the same patriotism that you have. The road is hard as there is more building to be done and it requires the wisdom and foresight of a leader who understands the requirements of the future………. Egypt has been blessed with this historic pyramid of great leadership, one that has confidence in his people who now enjoy so much freedom, in spite of the attempts of the shortsighted, the trouble makers, and the paid agents ………… (Ahmad al Jarallah).” Owner and Chief Editor of the right-wing daily rag Alseyassah.

I am not going to comment on Al’s front page editorial. But what do you suppose he meant when he mentioned “paid agents”?
He is of course talking about President Hosni Mubarak, 82 years old and in power since October 1981 (28+ years), still ruling under a state of emergency since 1981. The writer is hoping that if he ever passes away, he would select his successor, and that the selected successor will be his son Gamal (Jamal).
Are we screwed up or what, and screwed, with some opinion-makers among us.
Cheers and Happy Holidays
