Arab Thought Foundation, Arab Status Quo Foundation: Part I………

I decided today, for some reason, to look into something called the ATF. Maybe because it is a slow pre-Holiday day on the Sound, could be the rain, could be the lousy performance by the Seahawks whom I had thought had hit bottom last week, only to be reeducated lat Sunday. It is the misfortune of the ATF, I hope, that I have time for them today.
“Vision (Arab Thought Foundation):
The Arab Thought Foundation is an independent, international, non governmental institution, having no political or sectarian ties. It is a solidarity initiative between the business community and the intellectuals to promote the proud attachment to the nation core values through a responsible freedom. Dedicated to all domains of knowledge, i.e., science, medicine, management, information and literature, the Foundation channel intellectual and cultural efforts to promote the attainment of the nation’s solidarity, its advancement and the preservation of its identity………..”
About non-governmental and no political ties:
It also has an Advisory Committees of 19: of these 14 hold PhD (no I am not in there, wasn’t invited and didn’t expect to) almost all of them from poorer, non-oil, Arab countries. One of the PhDs is from Kuwait, but he is a newspaper man, a media type.
I also did not like the part about "proud attachment to the nation core values through a responsible freedom": it probably means the freedom to worship the oligarchs and potantates.
Do they really except these people to advance the Arab world? I really truly hope they do not believe so, and I am almost certain that I am right this time.
Cheers and Happy Holidays
