Missing Scientists in a New Cold War, Iran and the West. ………
“Iran says missing national no nuclear scientist. After Western media reported that an Iranian national who went missing in Saudi Arabia was a nuclear scientist, the head of Iran's Atomic Energy Organization (AEO) moved to reject the claim. Shahram Amiri, a researcher at Iran's University of Malek Ashtar, went missing during a religious pilgrimage to Saudi Arabia in June. Certain Western media outlets have described Amiri as a nuclear scientist, who used to work at Iran's nascent Fordo nuclear enrichment plant. Speaking to Fars news agency, Head of the AEO Ali Akbar Salehi said he had no information about the sources of such reports, adding that he did not even know Amiri. "Shahram Amiri has not even been an employee at the AEO," the Iranian nuclear official explained. "We did not want to get onto this subject as we did not want to create suspicions [about the issue]. However, I hereby announce that he had no links to the Atomic Energy Organization; I don't even know who Mr. Amiri is,"……..”
Western media had reported him to be a nuclear scientist. Arab media (by that I mean Saudi media here) had largely concluded that Amiri was a nuclear scientists who has defected.
Was he or wasn’t he? Is it all part of the disinformation and counter-disinformation in this new cold war of Iran and her Arab allies vs. the West and its Arab allies?
