Saudis Seeking a Coalition of the Willing for Yemen War? Signs of Trouble?........
“Gulf sources have told this newspaper that Saudi Arabia has requested special forces from Bahrain, Qatar, Pakistan, and Jordan to help in the war against the Houthis on the Yemen border. The sources report that the Saudis have stressed that none of these Gulf forces selected be of Yemeni origins. No comment received from the Saudi government.”
Interesting combination of countries, if the report is accurate. The huge Saudi military, second-best armed in the Middle East, with access to all the satellite intelligence they need, seeks help from tiny, troubled Bahrain, not known for its military prowess except against its own people.
Jordan and Bahrain may be willing. But Qatar is a big question mark. Pakistan has been providing military mercenaries to some Gulf states for years; a strictly cash transaction, but that may change.
