Bank Robbery in Tehran: Ignoble Confiscation of a Nobel……..
“OSLO (Reuters) - Norway accused Tehran on Thursday of confiscating the Nobel Peace Prize awarded to human rights campaigner Shirin Ebadi in 2003 and said freedom of expression was under "great pressure" in Iran. The Foreign Ministry said Ebadi's gold Nobel medal and her award diploma had been removed from her bank box together with other personal items. "This is the first time a Nobel Peace Prize has been confiscated by national authorities," Foreign Minister Jonas Gahr Stoere said in a statement. "Such an act leaves us feeling shock and disbelief," said Stoere. A Norwegian committee picks the Nobel peace laureates, while Nobels in other categories are chosen in Sweden. The ministry summoned Iran's charge d'affaires to protest the confiscation and expressed "grave concern" about the treatment of Ebadi's husband, who it said had been arrested in Tehran and severely beaten……. “Answering to a reporter's question about the issue on Friday, Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ramin Mehman-Parast rejected Ebadi's claims. "It is most surprising to see Norwegian officials jump to conclusions without respecting international regulations and taking enough time to see both sides of the matter," added Mehman-Parast in response to the claims made by the Norwegian Foreign Minister. "Much the same as European countries, tax evasion is a crime in Iran and individuals would face legal penalties should they commit such an act," added Mehman-Parast……..” Press TV (Iran)
The frustrated mullahs are trying to get Shirin the old way, the way they got Al Capone. Most likely they are trying to rattle her, but it probably won't work. They could have asked her, instead of robbing it from her bank.
