On Extolling Kings: Kissing “It” in the Media, Arabian Bulemia………….

Kissing it in Arabia
“The memory of history is full of millions of names that passed through the generations, in different fields, some of them have vanished to have no mention except in some history books, while others have remained steadfast, never to be forgotten. Some of the latter has been content to etch his name on mountain tops through his work and his great humanitarian deeds and giving….….. Others have made a name for themselves through their horrible deeds and their bloodiness. …….. We must stop here at the list published by the famous American Forbes Magazine of the most influential people and listing the Custodian of the Two Holy Shrines, King Abdullah Bin Abdulaziz, May Allah Keep Him, among the top ten……... This great international recognition, for which King Abdullah never aimed, even as he bore the burden of two goals: breaking the back of violence and the humanization of humanity…… the dialogue among cultures and civilizations…..... This great international recognition of him was not s surprise, especially in view of many comments that discussed the eligibility of this leader whose noble name has been written by his great international, Islamic, and Arabic deeds, his better eligibility for the Nobel Peace Prize. Still, his name shall remain greater than any prize, and history shallretain it in its most pure lists….....….”
Actually, the only party to recommend the King for the Nobel were Saudi journalists and a couple of their Lebanese mercenaries.
I nearly threw up (vomited, barfed, “taqayya’tu”) twice as I read this in Arabic and translated it into English, and I am not even sick (I rarely get sick except when I read certain writings). Fortunately it was before my lunch. It was written in a, you guessed it, Saudi media outlet, where kissing it has apparently become an art form, out of necessity of course. But this is not that exceptional: it is done all over the Middle East. All Arab leaders especially, without exception, love to see it. But some are more subtle than others.
Cheers
