Goldman: Pay 'Inequality' Is Good. With Wall Street expected to hand out billions in bonuses this year, one Goldman Sachs adviser defended the gap between the paychecks in finance and those elsewhere Tuesday by saying that the discrepancy helps the economy. "We have to tolerate the inequality as a way to achieve greater prosperity and opportunity for all,” Brian Griffiths, a former adviser to Margaret Thatcher and currently an adviser for Goldman Sachs International, said at a panel discussion in London hosted by St. Paul's Cathedral. The investment bank set aside $16.7 billion for compensation and benefits in the first 9 months of 2009, a jump of 46 percent from last year…......
The panel’s discussion topic was, “What is the price of morality in the marketplace?”……….”

Goldman Sachs is the closest thing America has seen to “Big Brother”, at least since the demise of J Edgar Hoover. It is the most omniscient institution in the country, more than even DHS, NRA, and Procter & Gamble combined. More influential than American Idol and Oprah, even though most viewers are unaware of it. Its influence, directly or through various influential alumni, is in every facet of life.

Economic policy is really made by Goldman Sachs and its alumni in government and out, risky financial instruments are often conjured up at Goldman, and when the inevitable financial and economic crisis hits, Goldman is there to pick up the pieces, with help from public funds, with a little help from its friends in Washington. Goldman ends up making a killing from the same crisis it helps create, even while it is killing the dreams of millions of Americans, turning their lives into nightmares. Goldman is not alone: there are others, Merrill, Lehman (RIP), Citigroup, Bank of America, AIG........ad nauseam, literally.
Cheers
