Saudi-Syrian Divide: Back to Square One…………

The Second Prime Minister, Minister of Interior of Saudi Arabia has announced it clearly. Iraqi stability requires from neighboring states to prevent the "khawarij” terrorists from flowing into the country……It is vital that some neighboring countries realize that it is no use anymore to play on regional anomalies.........we all know what countries are sending men and money into Iraq, and we all know that Damascus and Tehran are trying to break their own isolation through the rivers of blood flowing on the streets of Baghdad......... Good intentions should not be limited to public statements by Syrian and Iranian officials but through working hard to stem the flow of terrorism in Iraq……....” alseyassah (Kuwait)

This daily has the reputation of being the only foreign newspaper that enters Saudi Arabia directly without the censors going through it first. It means what you read on it is what the censors love to see. What its editor writes is the type of fawning that Riyadh loves to see in all Arab newspapers but is afraid to ask for. Clearly this editor has hitched his wagon to the rising octogenarian star of Prince Nayef.
Which tells me that relations between Syria and Saudi Arabia were not patched up during the visit of King Abdullah to Damascus a couple of weeks ago. Just as I suspected at the time, in spite of all the media noise about a new era in relations…….
