Middle East Media, Pean to a Mouthpiece, Requiem for a Tabloid, A Scented Editor, a Watermelon Daily……….

Requiem to a mouthpiece:
Right here I would like to express my thanks and appreciation for the chief editor of alseyassah, the brother colleague teacher (professor?) A. Aljarallah….throughout the years he has been a real committed and faithful man, a believer in the freedom of the press and a seeker of reform………He is a brave man who believes what he writes and is open to other opinions……He bravely exposed totalitarian regimes at the risk of his own life........We have known him with a big heart full of love and vitality, and he has the love, respect, and trust of all intellectuals and thinkers in the whole wide Arab world……Way to go for Mr. Aljarallah for his great career, his scented (perfumey) career, for his generous manners, his brilliant creative mind and his big heart……..

Now that you have finished with the barf bag or sick bag, or bucket:
I am not sure about the 'professor' or 'teacher' bit: I think the writer go carried away and gave his boss an undeserved honorary degree in palm frond weaving.
There is something to be said for this newspaper. Some people call it a rag, but not I, I am too polite and genteel to do that. I would not even call it a watermelon newspaper; I am that polite and genteel. Suffice it to know that it is reported to be the only ‘foreign’ newspaper to circulate in Saudi Arabia directly, without going through the censors. That says something, does it not?
In any case, happy birthday and many more watermelons……
Cheers
